*I Don't Know
*Fri. 02.12.2021
*Not a Newsletter is a weekly passion project by Tim Finch that prioritizes information, ideas and creative endeavors. Each post will consist of a few of my own thoughts, a conversation starter, some visual inspiration and a call to action.
✏️ Words from me
The last few months have been of and for discovery. Conversations with loved ones about what it's like to experience such polarizing circumstances, events, situations.
These conversations have no goal other than release. Unfortunately, a lot of these conversations don't end with answers. Which I (among others) am learning to come to terms with.
"I don't know" — this phrase has brought me more peace than anxiety lately. If you know me and know me personally, you know that I can be (very) stubborn...to a fault. But, lately, I've been oddly fine with saying that I have no clue. It's very freeing.
Anyway, back to conversation — it's been something I've been looking forward to more than anything lately. Matt let me borrow his zoom recorder and I'm determined to capture the audio in my life in unique ways. The first and most immediate way I can think of is to chat with the people in my life.
Here's where *Command K comes in.
I've been trying to figure out how to make these passion projects come to life without exhausting myself or the audience. It's something that has overwhelmed me, yet, I'm realizing that the answer is often in movement and not the solution.
Once-per-month. At random I will release a diary — by way of podcast. Starting next week.
🤳🏾 Let's chat

Undercurrent is an ever-evolving collective of Chicagoans committed to sharing essential information, elevating marginalized voices, and sharing practical tools and resources for ongoing holistic activism in the city of Chicago. Check them out.
My talented friends Evan Sheehan and Alex Wallbaum have launched their creative content studio: Breakfast for Dinner - hire them for all of your content needs (:
A few months ago I stumbled upon a conversation between critical race theorist and professor of civil rights and civil liberties — Cheryl L. Harris and her son Thebe Neruda Kgositsile (Earl Sweatshirt). There's some incredible insight on the internet, vulnerability, apathy, and race relations. Check it out here.
👆🏾One more thing!
In my search for information and content, I've always found tremendous value and appreciation for that which is given freely. I've decided to make *Command K completely free for everyone. Sometimes it will release on its own and sometimes it will release as a segment in this newsletter.
I will leave subscription options open in case you want to support financially, thank you to those that already do 🖤
Enjoy (:
That's it!
